Meet our Team
Dr. Emily Gerstein (she/her)
Principal Investigator
Associate Professor in Psychological Sciences
Director of Clinical Training/Clinical Psychology Program Director
I joined the Clinical Psychology faculty at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2014. I received my PhD from Arizona State University, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Waisman Center for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities at the University of Wisconsin-Madison prior to coming to St. Louis.
My research interests are in the areas of developmental psychopathology, family systems and functioning, parent-child interactions, parental mental health, and risk and resilient processes in children with early-identified developmental risk. My work has often focused on families of children born preterm, children with developmental delays, and children experiencing socioeconomic adversity. I am particularly interested in using observational methods for examining family interactions, and my research spans from pregnancy and the transition to parenthood to the transition to elementary school.
Outside of the lab, I enjoy playing with my kiddo, farmer's markets, baking, and finding all the local festivals, restaurants, and neighborhood gems that St. Louis has to offer!
